News: Khlood Elsayed Wins District 100 / Division S Speech Evaluation Contest!

Despite pandemic restrictions in the past two years, Toastmasters speech contests are alive and well on virtual platforms such as Zoom. Such was the case yesterday, March 26, at the District 100 Division S Contests.

Having won the Area Evaluation Contest two weeks ago, Khlood Elsayed represented our club at the Division level.

At the beginning of this contest, a 5-7 minute test speech was presented by a Test Speaker to the entire virtual audience including the contestants. At the conclusion of the test speech, all contestants left the virtual main room and were given five minutes to prepare their evaluations.

After those five minutes, the contestants turned in their notes. The first evaluator was called back into the room and delivered a 2-3 minute evaluation to the audience which included the anonymous contest judges. Each of the remaining contestants repeated this cycle. The judges then used ballots to pick the winner!

Khlood did all the right things: She identified many of the Test Speaker’s strengths, she suggested a couple of ways to make the speech even better, and then nicely summarized her presentation, all the while being positive and encouraging.

Khlood was well-deserving of the 1st Place Award. She now will participate in D100’s District Finals on April 23, 2022.
