Who were you named after? Why were you named after that person? Was it a close or distant relative? Perhaps a famous or historical figure?
Or maybe they just liked the sound of it?
Our theme this week is Namesake Day.
‘Namesake’ is defined by Webster’s as
- a person named after another,
- a person having the same name as another.
Namesake Day is celebrated every first Sunday of March. It is set aside for people to investigate the origin of their surname and given names.
Renaissance Speakers is a public speaking club where you always have fun. And choosing enjoyable themes is a big part of that.
