The presentation took place on August 22, 2019, at the Toastmasters International Conference in Denver, as part of the Hall of Fame ceremonies.
The award was given for Serena’s accomplishments as the District’s Program Quality Director. The PQD’s annual goal is to have at least 40% of the clubs reach Distinguished status. Under Serena’s leadership, 60% of our clubs attained Distinguished or better status with nearly half of those reaching the highest designation: President’s Distinguished.
The driving force behind a club reaching Distinguished status is the number of educational awards their members earn. The members of District 52 received a record 700+ awards, the highest total since 2003. That total number is undoubtedly the highest ever. (Records are not available prior to 2003).
Serena summed up her banner year: “2018-2019 was an amazing life experience I will be proud of for the rest of my life. This is a reflection of the determination and hard work of the thousands of District 52 club members who submitted their educational goals and helped their club meet these goals. We have made HISTORY in our District. I am proud to have been on the team that made this happen. You, as a District leader and member, should be proud, too!”
