News: Renaissance Speakers named 2018-2019 “Club of the Year”

Renaissance Speakers, one of the most recognized Toastmasters clubs in the world, was named Club of the Year at District 52’s Awards and Installation celebration on August 10, 2019 in Los Angeles.

The Saturday gala was held at the San Antonio Winery, the District’s first time to hold an event at this venue.

Renaissance Speakers was honored for having achieved the level of President’s Distinguished Club for the 16th straight year.

Under the current recognition system, the highest rank that Clubs can become is a President’s Distinguished Club by completing 9 or 10 of the 10 goals as outlined by Toastmasters International. These goals consist of membership targets, educational levels awarded, training of executives and the reporting of officer lists and dues to Toastmasters International in a timely manner.

Renaissance Speakers has accomplished all 10 goals for the last 8 years in a row and has been a President’s Distinguished Club EVERY year since the inception of the program.

In addition, several members were individually honored for their accomplishments during this past year:

  • Serena McCullough for earning 15 Educational Awards, the highest amount of anyone in the District. Serena was also honored for her outstanding service as the District’s 2018-2019 Program Quality Director.
  • Jeff Harman for earning 7 Educational Awards. Jeff was also awarded a plaque for his service as District Chief Judge for the past year.
  • Erin Godley was awarded a plaque for her exceptional service as an Area Director in leading her clubs to having successful years.
